Technical advisory and engineering services supporting the evaluation of primary filtration and enhanced primary treatment at the South Shore Water Reclamation Facility.
Caliskaner Water Technologies, Inc. (CWT) is providing technical advisory and engineering services to the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) to support the evaluation of primary filtration (PF) and enhanced primary treatment initiatives at the South Shore Water Reclamation Facility. The scope of work includes the evaluation of full-scale primary filters as an alternative to conventional primary clarification, supporting the design of the Clean Water Research Center, test plan preparation for a future full-scale demonstration of two PF technologies at the Clean Water Research Center, and technical assistance for a temporary chemically enhanced primary treatment system.
Drawing on experience with Cloth Disc Primary Filter (AquaPrime) and Proteus Primary Filter technologies, CWT reviews design documents, testing plans, operating data, and proposed treatment configurations. The evaluations address hydraulic and solids loading, backwash requirements, sludge thickening, chemical dosing and mixing, wet-weather operation, life-cycle costs, and scalability to full-scale implementation.
CWT communicates its findings through structured technical comments, technical memorandums, meetings, and stakeholder workshops. These services provide guidance and a roadmap for MMSD in future pilot testing, resolving operational challenges, and decision making regarding reliable and cost-effective primary treatment improvements.
