About Us

Caliskaner Water Technologies, Inc. (CWT) is a niche civil and environmental engineering firm. Founded in 2020, it is led by Dr. Onder Caliskaner with 30 years of experience in technology research, demonstration, development and design. CWT is a recognized industry leader in emerging wastewater treatment and resource recovery technologies and processes such as primary filtration, carbon diversion, advanced primary treatment, biosolids management, PFAS, tertiary filtration, and water reuse. Our mission is to demonstrate, evaluate, and optimize emerging technologies for intensification and decarbonization of water resource recovery facilities (WRRF). Dr. Derya Dursun is leading our critical task of accelerating innovation of technologies and processes to increase treatment and energy performance while increasing capacity of the WRRFs.

Growing population, water scarcity, rising energy costs, stringent effluent limitations, land restrictions are now common challenges facing WRRFs. Because of these challenges, conventional treatment technologies are being replaced or supplemented by emerging & leading-edge technologies. With its foundational and deep understanding of conventional technologies, CWT uses its unique expertise in successfully evaluating the benefits and disadvantages of innovative technologies against conventional technologies.

The WRRF industry has become quite vibrant and dynamic to adopt to these challenges mentioned above. Optimized solutions for design and operation of WRRFs are now essential to increase energy efficiency, improve treatment performance, reduce footprint, increase capacity, and minimize capital costs. CWT is focused on optimizing WRRF processes to maximize facility performance and minimize financial impacts. Using expertise and experience from our groundbreaking demonstration and evaluation projects involving emerging and innovative technologies, we are able to provide utilities with critical recommendations for feasible and optimized treatment and technology solutions for decarbonization, energy savings, and intensification of WRRFs. Some examples of substantial benefits resulting from CWT’s successful treatment technology demonstration and optimization projects are as follows:

· 30 to 40 percent increase in energy efficiency

· 20 to 30 percent reduction in capital costs

· Up to 80 percent reduction in footprint requirement

· 40 to 50 percent increase in treatment performance

· 20-25 percent increase in treatment capacity
